¡Viva el Arte! - Mexican Day
Today we are celebrating Mexican art, culture and language. As part of our Spanish curriculum studies, we are exploring other countries around the world that speak Spanish and enjoying learning the differences in pronunciation and regional variations!
We have also chosen to base our Summer Term Art Exhibition on portraiture and our creative Modern Foreign Language and Art and Design subject leaders, Mrs Lillywhite and Mr Jolly, have combined the two and organised this memorable event: ¡Viva el Arte!
The corridors are a riot of flowers and colour as the children explore the iconic works of Frida Kahlo, inspiring them to create their own self portraits, with embellished frames. Thanks to the Zest Dance workshops, Mexican mariachi music can be heard from the classrooms, accompanied by much counting ( in Spanish!) rhythmic stamping and clapping. The wiggly salsa hips would not be out of place on the Strictly dance floor!
The flavours of Mexico are also on offer at lunchtime today, thanks to our fabulous chef Maggie - spicy tacos, golden sweetcorn with peppers and lime cake!
¡Qué día tan fabuloso!
